Abstract

We report the case of a female adult with a history of interstitial pneumonia that debutes with systemic symptoms, skin rash, “mechanic's hands”, muscle weakness, and polyarthralgia. Through laboratory studies, histopathology of the skin, high resolution computed tomography and electromyogram, we arrived at the antisynthetase syndrome diagnosis. The antisynthetase syndrome is a rare autoimmune inflammatory of the myopathies group with high mortality and poor response to therapy, whose evolution depends on the lung involvement.
