Abstract

Histoplasmosis is caused by the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum. It frequently occurs in people with some immunodeficiency, especially in AIDS, in whom the most common clinical form is disseminated. The symptoms are usually nonspecific and difficult to differentiate from other infectious diseases, including tuberculosis. The case of a female patient, 23 years old, with vertically transmitted HIV who abandoned treatment and recently diagnosed pulmonary Tuberculosis (TBC) is presented. He presented with generalized itchy pimples, a feverish sensation, weakness, and purulent nasal discharge for 1 month. A biopsy was performed for anatomy, pathology and cultures, with which the diagnosis was made, with poor evolution of the patient, leading to a fatal outcome.
