Introduction: Dermatological cryotherapy is an evolving therapeutic modality with diverse clinical applications and promising outcomes. This study extensively reviews its clinical utility and therapeutic efficacy.
Materials and Methods: A meticulous search was conducted on PubMed, EMBASE and MEDLINE using specific MeSH terms between 2000 and 2023, restricted to English and Spanish languages. Selected studies underwent rigorous evaluation based on predefined criteria, ensuring methodological integrity.
Results and Discussion: Findings highlight a wide spectrum of dermatological conditions amenable to cryotherapy, ranging from benign to neoplastic lesions, with notable advantages including simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and minimal associated morbidity. This therapeutic modality appears as a valuable option in dermatological treatment, offering considerable benefits in terms of efficacy and safety.
Conclusions: Dermatological cryotherapy presents itself as a valuable therapeutic tool in the dermatologist's arsenal, providing significant benefits in efficacy and safety. However, further research is needed to elucidate its mechanisms of action and improve its clinical application in various contexts. With a continued focus on research and innovation, cryotherapy holds promises as a fundamental therapeutic possibility in contemporary dermatological practice.
