The organoid nevus or sebaceous nevus of Jadassohn is a hamartomous proliferation with epidermal differentiation. It is congenital (usually a genetic mosaicism) but it manifests clinically during childhood, because the growth of the lesion is in accordance with age. Its common topography is on the scalp of the head, face, trunk and upper extremities. The typical morphology is an alopecia plaque with an oval appearance or a linear trajectory, circumscribed, solitary, velvety surface or warty appearance, hyperkeratotic and with yellow-brown hyperpigmentation. It is commonly associated with other benign neoplasms, the most frequent being trichoblastoma, however, the possibility of malignant transformation is known, commonly to a basal cell carcinoma. The treatment of aesthetic lesions is surgical, prophylactic removal is controversial and there are variable recurrence rates.
