Abstract

El envejecimiento es un proceso natural caracteri­zado por una disminución en la capacidad para mantener la homeostasis, el cual puede ser atri­ buido a los cambios biológicos y a las alteraciones hormonales propias de la edad y a factores externos tales como la radiación ultravioleta. Se hace una revisión que presenta las diferentes teorías sobre el envejecimiento, los cambios fisiológicos, los hallazgos histopatológicos y las manifestaciones clínicas más frecuentes relacionadas con el proceso de envejecimiento.
