Abstract

Smooth muscle hamartoma (SML) is a rare, benign lesion, usually congenital, characterized by disorganized proliferation of smooth muscle fibers. Although it can occur anywhere on the body, it is most common in the lumbar region, thighs, arms, face, and breast region. Clinically, HML can present as an indurated plaque with a smooth surface, normal color or hyperpigmentation, often accompanied by hypertrichosis. In some cases, it manifests as multiple papules with a follicular distribution.
