Neonatal lupus erythematosus, case report and literature review

Neonatal lupus erythematosus is a rare disease, with cutaneous and extracutaneous clinical manifestations, which depending on its severity and the organs involved, can have serious complications that can put the patient's life at risk, such as congenital heart block. We present the case of a young infant, who’s mother has Sjogren's syndrome, who presented characteristic lesions of periocular distribution that allowed the identification of the pathology and where the diagnosis was confirmed by the measurement of anti-SSA antibodies. A review of the literature on this pathology was also carried out, given that its early recognition and accurate diagnosis allows for adequate interventions and follow-up.
