Introduction: Hydroa vacciniforme is an uncommon photodermatosis that causes chronic skin involvement and might be related to the Epstein-Barr virus infection, associating progressive cicatricial deformity and a higher risk of developing cutaneous lymphomas.
Method: This is a descriptive observational type of study. Therefore, it details a rare photodermatosis in a male pediatric patient with a history of Epstein Barr virus exposure, who presented blisters and chronic ulcers in photoexposed areas.
Results: A 13-year-old boy suffering from deforming chronic ulcers in the face and ears, whose histopathological study revealed a marked lymphocytic infiltrate with angiocentrism, suggesting hydroa vacciniforme. Yet positive markers of cutaneous lymphoma associated with Epstein Barr virus were identified by immunohistochemistry.
Conclusion: This article reports a pediatric hydroa vacciniforme-like lymphoproliferative disorder case without systemic involvement, associated with Epstein-Barr virus exposure. Indeed, it is an unusual case in which histological and immunohistochemical pattern is aggressive and in whom the prognosis is still unknown
