Verrucous melanoma. Malignant lesion masquerading as benign

Verrucous melanoma is considered a rare histological variant of malignant melanoma (accounting for 0.4 to 3.2% of all melanomas). It may be clinically similar to a verrucous nevus or seborrheic keratosis. Therefore, this type of melanoma can often be confused, both clinically and dermoscopically, with a benign lesion, highlighting the need for histological and immunohistochemical confirmation.
