Abstract

We present the case of a male patient aged 61 with a history of significant cardiovascular disease, who suffered an ischemic stroke that ended in death after dermatological surgery. The patient had stopped using antithrombotic medication. The requirement for antiplatelet suspension in a cardiovascular risk patient that is going to be taken to surgery is limited to surgeries with the possibility of massive loss of blood or the development of a hematoma that could lead to significant morbidity. In the case of minor surgery, as in the case of dermatological surgery, there is no indication of suspension of antiplatelet treatment.
